After her father's death, Richelle Howard's life crumbles overnight. Cornered by her mother's reckless extravagance and debts that multiply faster than they can be repaid, she has nowhere left to turn when an offer arrives from the kingdom's wealthiest and most revered family: the illustrious House of Otis. The position seems simple. Live at the Manor of Roses for one year. Teach the children. Follow the rules. Never ignore the bells after midnight. Never enter certain rooms. Never question what you see. Rules that must be obeyed without exception. Rules that offer no explanation. Rules that seem like warnings. Surrounded by a sprawling estate covered in roses and a family as beautiful as they are unsettling, Richelle soon finds herself entangled in a series of increasingly bizarre incidents. Doors open where none existed before. Whispers drift through empty halls. Faces appear where they should not. "Welcome to the most fragrant grave in the world, Miss Richelle Howard. Let us become good corpses together." |
