But is getting yourself turned into a hippopotamus really a fairy tale?

Flyers fall from the sky, beckoning the denizens of Tomobiki to attend the new amusement park at the outskirts of town. Lum, Ataru, and all their friends head to the park hoping for a day of fun and relaxation, but soon find themselves witness to strange occurrences none of them can explain! Undeterred, they take in the magic show of the mysterious magician Ruu, but things go awry when Ataru volunteers to be in the magic show and finds himself turned into a hippopotamus! Lum suddenly goes missing, too, and after a while the entire town finds itself becoming, well... boring and normal.
