_Payment Methods

DOMESTIC ORDERS - Orders placed that are shipping within the United States and it's territories may be paid for with Visa, MasterCard, Discover, American Express, JCB, Money Order, Cash, or Personal Check.

INTERNATIONAL ORDERS - Orders placed from destinations outside of the United States may be paid for with Visa, MasterCard, Discover, American Express, JCB, Money Order (in US Currency drawn off of a US Bank), or Cash (US Currency). (Please note: If your country is not on our country list then we do not currently ship there!)

Credit Cards - Orders paid for with your major credit card may be placed online using our secure order form, or faxed 24 hours a day to 1-304-725-3587. You may also print and mail in your order to the address below. When placing an order, we will automatically authorize your credit card account for the amount of your order, however your credit card will not actually be charged for any items until they ship, including backordered or preordered items. In stock items usually ship within 1 business day after receipt of your order.

Credit Card Address Verification - For everyone's protection, orders paid for via credit card are authorized using our address verification system. Generally, we like it if orders paid for via credit card can be shipped to the billing address of the credit card used for payment. If this causes a problem, or you require special shipping arrangements (such as shipping an item to your daytime work address, your school address, or as a gift) please contact us via e-mail after placing your order so that we can make arrangements, otherwise processing of your order may be delayed.

International Address Verification: If you are a first time customer, we may need to verify your information for international credit card transactions. Once you place your order we will contact you if we need further information. If you would like to be proactive, after ordering online, fax (1-304-725-3587) or e-mail us a scan or photocopy of your credit card (our your credit card statement). This would only be necessary on your FIRST ORDER to verify your physical possession of the card. These scans or faxes are destroyed after verification. On future orders you may order as normal, with no hassles. We apologize for the inconvenience, but this allows us to safely serve the international anime market, and still protect ourselves and our customers from fraud. We have been using this method for years, and have never had a problem, so if you have any questions, please contact us.

Money Orders / Cash / Personal Checks - Mail In Payments must be received within 10 days (14 days for international payments) of your order. We will accept cash payments, but we do not recommend sending cash in the mail and will not be responsible for lost payments. Please notify us if you will require a longer period of time to make payment.

Money Orders - Orders paid for with money order will be shipped as soon as your payment is received. Simply choose 'Money Order' as your payment method on the order form. Money orders can be purchased at your local post office  or bank, are at many retail outlets and convienence stores. Once your order is placed, you will receive instructions via e-mail regarding how to complete your order. 

Personal Checks - Orders paid for with personal check will be shipped as soon as your payment is received and your payment clears the bank, which takes about 7-10 business days. (please keep this in mind when paying this way). Simply choose 'Personal Check' as your payment method on the order form. Once your order is placed, you will receive instructions via e-mail regarding how to complete your order and send in your payment. Returned checks will incur a $25 service fee.

_Currencies / Exchange Rates 

All items listed at the Anime Corner Store are priced in U.S. Dollars.  All payments must be made payable in U.S. Currency.

We cannot quote the cost of your order in any currency except U.S. Dollars -This is because currency exchange rates change daily based on Global market conditions. International credit card orders will be billed in U.S. Dollars the day that your order ships, and your credit card company will change U.S. Dollars to your home currency at the prevailing exchange rate in effect at the time of the charge.

_Shipping Rates and Methods

*Signature Requirements - For all shipments valued over $250, we may require that a signature be obtained for deliveries made via Priority Mail, UPS, or FedEx. Insurance and/or signature requirement on orders under $250 is at our discretion or is available upon request. Please check the 'no signature' box on the order form if this will cause an inconvenience or if you would prefer a non-signature delivery of your order. We will not be responsible for parcels that are lost or stolen because a signature was not required at delivery.

DOMESTIC ORDERS - are shipments made within the United States (Including Alaska and Hawaii), US Territories (Puerto Rico, Guam, Virgin Islands), P.O. Boxes, and to APO/FPO addresses. We offer many different shipping methods to destinations within the United States and you have the option to choose your preferred carrier for your order from the following choices.

Economy Super Saver Shipping - Take advantage of our economy Super Saver shipping and have your order shipped at a reduced rate within the continental US! Your 'in stock' items will usually ship within 4-7 business days from the time your order is placed (or payment is received) and usually arrive at your door within 7-14 business days. We will choose the shipping method for Super Saver orders depending on size, weight, and destination. They are usually shipped either via Standard Mail or SmartPost for heavier or lower value orders and FedEx Ground for higher value orders (usually at least $300 or more). We are using SmartPost now for a lot of economy shipments, and with those we will provide the postal portion of the tracking number which will not become valid until your package reaches your local postal DRU, and this may take a few days after the shipment is actually made.

Super Saver Shipping Rules and Restrictions:

  • Super Saver shipping is only available to destinations within the United States.

  • Shipment Delays / Order Holds - Because your order is shipping for a lower cost, we will try to ship all of your items together if possible, including pre-order items. If one or more of the items on your Super Saver order are not in stock, we have the option to hold your shipment until all items are available to ship together. We normally won't hold an order longer than a few business days in an attempt to ship it complete, but please be aware that when you select Super Saver, your order may not ship right away like with Priority Mail and UPS or FedEx Flat Rate orders do. By selecting super saver shipping you are telling us that low cost shipping is more important to you than fast delivery.

  • Pre Order Items - We calculate Super Saver shipping on a per shipment basis, NOT a per order basis, so separate Pre Order shipments may incur additional shipping charges on a per shipment basis. You can always place separate orders for your pre-order items, or request that shipment of your entire order be held until all items (including pre-order items) can ship together in order to qualify for free shipping. To do this just check the 'Hold Ship Complete' box on our order form.

  • FREE Shipping Offer / Shippable Total Less Than $50 - FREE Super Saver Shipping is available for orders over $50. Just select our Super Saver Shipping option and apply our FREESHIP coupon to your order. All shipments against your order that do not meet the $50 minimum will incur the regular super saver shipping fee. Remember, PRE ORDER ITEMS DO NOT count in your shippable total (Example: If your order is $80, but $40 of that is pre-orders, the order will NOT qualify for our free shipping offer and will be billed the regular super saver shipping charge for a $40 order.) Our FREESHIP coupon offer may not be combined with any other coupon or discount offers.

  • APO/FPO - You can use Super Saver Shipping for delivery of orders to  P.O. Boxes and APO/FPO addresses outside of the United States.

  • AK. HI, and PR - Reduced Super Saver Rates are Available to Alaska, Hawaii, US Territories (Puerto Rico, Guam, Virgin Islands), however, our FREE Shipping offer cannot be selected for these Regions.

  • Odd Sized Items - Orders that include Walls Scrolls, Posters, Calendars, or other odd sized items that must be shipped in a separate carton or tube may incur additional shipping fees. Sorry folks, no way around it.

  • Large Items - Large items like big figurines, or orders that must be packaged in more than one shipping carton, may incur additional shipping fees at our discretion.

Priority Mail - US Priority Mail is available for all US domestic orders including Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, and all APO/FPO locations. Your 'in stock' items will usually arrive at your door within 2 to 5 business days from the time your order is placed (or payment is received), and priority mail shipments are delivered 6 days per week (Monday - Saturday). All priority mail shipments include USPS electronic tracking and delivery confirmation where available. Please see the chart below for Priority Mail shipping charges. These charges will automatically be calculated when you place your order.

AK, HI, PR, and APO/FPO Transit Times - Please note that deliveries to Alaska, Hawaii, US Territories (Puerto Rico, Guam, Virgin Islands), and APO/FPO address are considered on-demand delivery regions, and may require a little more time for delivery. These destinations outside of the continental US usually require 3-7 business days for delivery, and APO/FPO deliveries overseas can take up to 1-4 weeks depending on the location of your duty station.

Very Small Parcels - Very small parcels under 16oz (a single DVD or Manga for instance) will be sent via First Class Mail if possible, which has the same delivery commitment as Priority Mail for parcels under 16oz weight.

Oversized Parcels - We may not be able to use Priority Mail for delivery of large or oversized items (like Statues or Action Figures). Parcels that are larger than 12" x 12" x 12" can no longer be sent via Priority Mail and will be switched to FedEx Ground shipping and charged the regular Priority Mail shipping rate but will be given expedited handling in our warehouse.

FedEx Ground - FLAT RATE - Shipments made within the United States (continental US only) can be shipped via FedEx Ground service for a flat fee, regardless of the size of your order! Your 'in stock' items will usually arrive at your door within 2 to 7 business days from the time your order is placed (or payment is received). FedEx Ground shipments are fully trackable and insured each step of the way, so you'll always know exactly where your shipment is while it's on the way to you.

FedEx ground has the advantage that they deliver Monday through Saturday, which is slightly different than UPS's ground service which does not deliver on Saturday. We use FedEx ground 'home delivery' service for deliveries to all residential addresses. Please see the chart below for estimated in transit times for FedEx ground deliveries.

US Domestic FedEx Ground shipping rates are as follows:

ANY SIZE or type order can ship immediately via trackable FedEx Ground within the continental U.S. for a flat rate of just $14.99!!

FedEx Ground Delivery Restrictions - We cannot use FedEx ground for delivery of orders to US Territories (Guam, Virgin Islands), P.O. Boxes, APO/FPO, or address outside of the United state. We will use Priority Mail or International Mail for all shipments to these areas at the regular Priority Mail shipping rates.

UPS Shipping - Only $8.99!!UPS Ground - Shipments made within the United States (continental US only) can be shipped via UPS Ground of you prefer this method. Your 'in stock' items will usually arrive at your door within 2 to 7 business days from the time your order is placed (or payment is received). UPS Ground shipments are fully trackable and insured each step of the way, so you'll always know exactly where your shipment is while it's on the way to you. Please see the chart below for estimated in transit times for UPS ground deliveries.

UPS Ground Delivery Restrictions - We cannot use UPS ground for delivery of orders to Alaska, Hawaii, US Territories (Puerto Rico, Guam, Virgin Islands), P.O. Boxes, APO/FPO, or address outside of the United state. We will use Standard Mail or International Mail for all shipments to these areas at the regular Standard Mail shipping rates.

FedEx Air 2nd Day & Next Day Guaranteed - For those Otaku's that need their Anime very quickly or by a specific date, we offer both FedEx guaranteed 2nd Day and FedEx guaranteed Overnight Express Saver shipping. Fed Ex 2nd Day Air offers Guaranteed delivery by the end of the second business day after shipment. Fed Ex Priority Overnight offers overnight delivery by the end of the next business day. Each service is fully trackable and insured each step of the way, so you'll always know exactly where your shipment is while it's on the way to you. Our shipping cut-off for same day FedEx Air shipping is 2 PM EST (Eastern Standard Time). Orders placed after 2PM EST or on weekends / holidays will ship the next business day.

Saturday Delivery - Saturday delivery is available for shipments being sent out on Friday via FedEx Overnight. FedEx charges an additional $20 fee for Saturday delivery and this fee will be added to your order total if you select the Saturday delivery option.

Delivery Restrictions - Fed Ex Air shipping is only available to destinations in the continental U.S., Alaska, Hawaii, and Puerto Rico. Please note that we cannot use Fed Ex Air shipping for delivery of orders to US Territories (Guam, Virgin Islands), P.O. Boxes, or APO/FPO address. We will use Priority Mail for all shipments to these areas. Very large or odd sized items (example: large statues, wall scrolls, or large toys) that will ship in oversized cartons and be subject to dimensional weight may incur additional shipping fees than those listed below. Please ensure that all rush orders that require Air shipping will be shipping to your credit card's correct billing address. We cannot be responsible for shipping delays caused by incorrect/incomplete customer information, or orders that require shipping to addresses that do not match your credit cards billing information. INTERNATIONAL DESTINATIONS (including Canada) - All shipments made to destinations outside of the United States may be shipped via FedEx International Express (fully trackable), EMS International Postal Express Mail (trackable) or International Air Mail (not trackable) and will be insured upon request. Once you have completed creating your order, you will be able to choose from several international shipping methods during the checkout process, and compare various shipping rates to your location. First time international orders may require ID verification prior to shipment.

Canadian Orders - Standard Shipping / Priority Airmail - Most shipments made to Canada are shipped via Postal Priority Airmail. You can expect your in stock orders to arrive in about 7-21 days from the time your order is placed (or payment is received). These charges will automatically be calculated when you place your order. EMS International Express Mail, FedEx Worldwide Priority shipping are also available to Canada upon request (see below), however, these methods will be more expensive. Additional customs fees may apply to all Canadian shipments, and are the responsibility of the recipient. Delivery of parcels that are inspected by Canadian customs may be delayed up to an additional 1-10 days (see Custom's, Duties, and Tariffs)

FedEx - JapanFedEx International Worldwide Express (RECOMMENDED!) - For the best method of shipping internationally choose FedEx Priority Worldwide Express for overseas destinations. FedEx offers true door to door express delivery. Shipments will be delivered to most destinations worldwide usually within 2-5 business days (shipping times can be up to 5-7 days to remote destinations) and are fully trackable every step of the way from our location to you. FedEx shipments will usually require a signature for delivery, and rates start at about $29.00. Actual shipping rate will depend on the destination, weight, size, and value of your order.

Customs Fees - Additional customs fees may apply to International shipments, and are the responsibility of the recipient. Delivery of parcels that are inspected by customs may be delayed up to an additional 10 days (see Custom's, Duties, and Tariffs)

Delivery Restrictions - Customers that require insurance (recommended!) will be charged an additional fee and should request it at the time of their order. FedEx shipments are subject to 'dimensional weights', and there will be additional charges for large or odd sized parcels. Customers in remote areas outside of major metropolitan delivery zones may be subject to an additional $20 FedEx fee. FedEx strictly regulates the delivery of restricted materials, including Adult items, and we do not recommend using FedEx for delivery of items from our adult catalog.

International Priority Air Mail - Usually requires about 5-14 days for delivery, however, can take up to 2-4 weeks for some locations. Priority Air Mail shipping starts at about $9.00 (for 1lb or less) and the final shipping charge will depend on the destination, weight, size, and value of your order.

Customs Fees - Additional customs fees, duties, or value added tax (VAT) may apply to your International shipment, and are the responsibility of the recipient. Delivery of parcels that are inspected by customs may be delayed for several additional days before delivery (see Custom's, Duties, and Tariffs)

Delivery Restrictions - At this time, tracking numbers are not available for international shipments send via Air Parcel Post or Global Priority Mail, so please keep this in mind when ordering. At our discretion, we reserve the right to upgrade larger Air Mail / Global priority mail order to EMS, or FedEx shipping if the size, weight, or value justifies a higher level of shipping method. Most Airmail and Global Priority mail shipment cannot be insured.

International Express Mail (EMS) - An excellent method of shipping internationally. EMS shipments will be delivered to most destinations worldwide usually within 3-7 business days (shipping times can be up to 10 days depending on the destination), are always fully insured, and EMS is the only postal method of shipping which allows parcels to be tracked. EMS shipments are also more secure, as they will always require a signature for delivery. EMS service to Europe usually costs about 30-40% more than standard Parcel Post, and is usually only a few dollars more to Asian and Pacific rim destinations (like Japan and Australia). As a rule of thumb, the larger your order, the more economical EMS becomes; rates start at about $24.00+ and will depend on the destination, weight, size, and value of your order.

Delivery Restrictions - Some high value orders requested to ship via EMS may automatically be upgraded to FedEx shipping if either is a faster/less expensive method (Example: FedEx is usually less expensive to Europe for packages over a certain weight). If you choose EMS shipping, and Do Not want us to upgrade you, please note this on the order form. EMS orders are automatically insured for $100 in value. Customers can request added insurance for an additional fee at the time of their order.


Identification Requirements for International Credit Card Orders: As much as we hated to do it, because of fraudulent orders placed from international destinations, we may now require proof of identification from customers paying with credit card for any order shipped internationally. At our discretion, we may require you to fax us a copy of your ID (drivers license, passport, etc.) along with a physical photocopy of both sides of your credit card or credit card statement before we can complete your order. This is to ensure that you are actually the card holder, and we are shipping the order to the correct person. This will only need to be done on your first order, and you can speed up the process in advance by faxing this info to 1-703-953-1710 (US fax number) or e-mailing it us before or just after you place your order. Please include your name and/or order number on all pages of your documentation. We apologize in advance for the inconvenience, however, we have lost several thousand dollars to fraudulent international orders - because we tried to make it easy for international customers to order, the criminals seemed to target us more frequently....

Middle Eastern Destinations - We know that parcel freight to the Middle East from the US can be expensive and tedious. For those Anime Fans living in the Middle East, you can, of course, choose our regular Airmail,  EMS, or FedEx (recommended), however, many of our customers in Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Jordan, Bahrain, Qatar, the UAE and other Middle Eastern destinations use the Aramex freight forwarding service located in New York and Jordan. We ship your order to them as if it is a domestic order (allowing you take advantage of our free domestic freight offer in many cases), and they in turn ship it to you. Aramex specializes in freight to Middle Eastern destinations. _2015 Holiday Delivery Schedule

It's that time of year again, and here are some handy shipping rules of thumb to make sure you get what you need from us on time!  

Super Saver Shipping (Dec 11th) - We ship your super saver and/or free ship orders several ways depending on your order's size, breadth, weight, and product type. The default method is usually standard mail, however, we may also use First Class service, SmartPost, or even Ground service for larger orders. The holiday cutoff for standard mail service is probably around today (Dec 11th), meaning that each day after your package has less and less chance of reaching you by Christmas. The other services have a little longer window, but when you choose super saver you can't be sure how it will ship so don't risk it - after today choose Priority Mail or Ground shipping if you definitely need it b/f the holidays. 

Priority Mail / Ground Shipping (Dec 17th) - Even though Pri Mail and Ground can have vastly different quoted leads times, we like to cut both off around the same time. This time of year Pri Mail can take twice as long as usual to get from us to you, and next week both UPS and FedEx will suspend their delivery guarantees for ground shipments due to the holiday rush. I would peg the cutoff for Pri Mail / Ground service this year at around Dec 17th, though if you are closer to our warehouse in Virginia that could probably be bumped up to as far as the 21st. Bottom line, get your holiday orders in before the 17th and choose Pri Mail or Ground service to ensure pre-Christmas delivery.

FedEx Express Two Day and Overnight (Dec 22nd/23rd) - We're famous for getting last minute Anime orders to customers on time during the holidays, and this year you can use FedEx Express 2nd Day service right up until Dec 22nd, and Overnight through the 23rd to get your holiday orders on time.Just keep in mind for last minute shopping there may be stuff we're sold out of, so try to place your orders as early as you can.

International (Dec 11th / Dec 21st) - The shipping cutoff for holiday delivery of Airmail parcels is today. Canadians may have a few more days for this service, but every year Canadian customs gets pretty bogged down around this time and they have never failed to disappoint us in the past. After today, I recommend you choose either EMS or FedEx International service for time sensitive orders. They should deliver on time if shipped right up until the 21st of Dec.

We'll be in both working on orders both weekends before Christmas to make sure that as many of your weekend orders go out on the following Monday if possible. Count on that we'll be doing our part, just keep in mind the carriers might have a different view and plan accordingly. :-)

_Order Confirmations

Once you place an order online, you will receive an e-mail confirming your order, and providing payment instructions if you elected to pre-pay by check or money order. When your items ship to you, you will receive another e-mail confirming what items have shipped out, and what tracking numbers are associated with those items (not applicable for international shipments unless shipped via EMS or FedEx).

_Packaging

All shipments are securely boxed (no flat shipments), and are packaged with recycled loose fill. We use this, even though it's more expensive, because loose fill provides better cushioning than other types of material like air bags or paper. We have experimented with air bags and other types of packaging materials in the past, and find that loose fill is by far the best choice to ensure your items get to you in mint condition.

_Item Availability / Inventory

We do our best to keep items listed for sale in the Anime Corner Store in stock and ready to ship, however, there will be instances when items go out of stock and become backordered, usually due to delays from the manufacturer. Most item listings include an approx. availability, however backordered items may require more than the listed time period to ship.

What our availability indicators mean:  99% of the items listed for sale at the Anime Corner Store are kept in stock and ready to ship right here at our fulfillment center in Winchester, VA. This is different from many other companies who use fulfillment or 3rd party vendors to ship your items, or don't order items until customers actually place orders. We ship directly to you!

We identify availability of an item with the following indicators:

  • Stocking Item - Usually Ships Within 24-48 Hours - These items are kept in stock here at our Winchester, VA fulfillment center and usually ship within 1-2 business days unless they are backordered from the manufacturer. Items that are out of stock will be placed on backorder for a minimum of 60 days, and shipped to you when available at no additional shipping charge. These item will only be out of stock if there is some problem with the studio or manufacturer letting them fall out of print for a period of time, recalling a product due to defects, or some other issue that is outside of our control.

  • Special Order / Non-Stocking Item - Items that are either not stocked in our warehouse, or carry exceptionally long lead times from the manufacturer. These items will be special ordered at the time of your order, and will be shipped when they arrive from the manufacturer. A special order will be held open for a period of at least 30 days, and you may request that we keep it open for a longer period of time, or until the item is available.

  • Discontinued / Limited to Stock on Hand - This means that the item has been discontinued, however, we still have a limited number available in our warehouse. We cannot accept backorders for these items once they go out of stock.

  • Sold Out / Currently Unavailable - This means that the item has either been discontinued, or the manufacturer cannot confirm when and/or if restocks will be available. Generally we will make these items available again for you to order once restock do arrive, or we will remove them from the site should the manufacturer confirm that the item will no longer be available.

_Order Processing

Your orders are processed daily Monday through Friday. Weekend and Holiday orders are processed on the following business day.

In stock orders are usually shipped within 1-2 business days from the time that they are placed (Super Savers orders may require longer to ship).

As a rule of thumb, depending on the order volume over any given weekend we usually split up those orders between Monday and Tuesday. This means that if you place an order Sunday evening, please keep in mind that their are already 2 full days worth of orders ahead of yours to be processed, and your order might not be processed until Tuesday. This also applies to holidays and any other period when we are closed and may have more than 24 hours worth of orders to process when we return.

Currently, we do not accept orders over the phone (which helps us reduce costs and keep our prices low!), however, orders may be faxed to us 24 hours a day at 1-304-725-3587, or mailed in to the this address:

If you place an order and then notice an error, please e-mail us immediately so that we may correct your order. If you suspect that your order did not transmit successfully or feel that there may have been any other problem, please e-mail us so that we may confirm receipt of your order and contact you for follow up.

_Backordered & Preordered Items

Backorders - Out of stock items are currently on back order, and will be shipped as soon as they are available from the manufacturer. Please note that we will make every effort to keep all listed items in stock, however, item availability may vary depending on demand, and availability from the manufacturer. All backordered items ship via Priority or First Class Mail. Your credit card will not be charged for an item until that item is actually shipped. You will be charged your shipping charge only once on the first shipment, and you will not be charged additional shipping when backordered items finally ship. When complete video or DVD sets are ordered and there is a backorder of a particular volume in that set, the in stock volumes will ship immediately, and the backordered volumes will ship when they become available.

International orders - if any of the items that you order are out of stock, we will generally hold your order until all your items are available to ship complete, unless we deem there will be a significant delay (more than 4 weeks) for an item, in which case we will ship your order and backorder that item, shipping it later for a small additional shipping charge.

Cancellation period - All backorders will be carried for a minimum period of  90 days from the time of your order, and may automatically be canceled (and a refund made if applicable) after that time unless you request we hold your order open for a longer period of time.

Preorders - Items ordered that are not yet available for release will be shipped as soon as they are available from the manufacturer.  Most new releases will be made available for pre-order at least 30 days prior to the estimated release dates. Additional shipping charges will apply for items that are pre-ordered. Check the Upcoming Releases information page for up to date information regarding new releases. We will try to combine shipping for pre-order items that release on the same date, although this is not always possible. Pre Order items cannot be combined with regular catalog items to qualify for super saver shipping.

Credit Cards - If you select to pay with your credit card, our website will authorize your card for the purchase price at the time you place your order, but you will not be charged for an item until that item is actually shipped to you.

Prepayment w/ Check or Money Order - If you select to pre-order an item and pay via check or money order, you should send in your payment as soon as possible to ensure that an early copy is reserved for you. If you order multiple items on a single order, your order will be held until all items are in stock (which could be several weeks) and can be shipped together. In this case you should place separate orders for pre-ordered items, so please keep this in mind when pre-paying for Pre-order items.

Note About Release/Street Dates:  Please note that manufacturer release dates are subject to change (and frequently do) and are out of our control. New releases may be subject to delays beyond the expected availability dates listed on our items pages. It is not unusual for our initial preorder stock to arrive a few days before, or a few days (or weeks) after the published release date. Also, please be aware that pre-ordered items are filled on a first come - first served basis, so get your orders in as early as possible! Items that are ordered a couple of days prior to the release date may not ship on time.

_State and Local Sales Taxes

5.3% or 6.0% Sales Tax (depending on your locality) will be added to all orders shipped to Virginia addresses. Sorry folks, gotta do it to keep 'the man' happy..... :-)

_Returns / Defective Products

Defective or Damaged products - will be replaced immediately (subject to availability), however, before e-mailing us to request a return authorization number, be sure that the package the item was shipped in was not damaged in transit. We have one of the best defective merchandise return/exchange policies in the business!

Note: Products may be returned for replacement or store credit only. 

You MUST notify us within 10 days after the receipt of a defective item in order to qualify for a return for replacement or credit.

We maintain a fairly strict returns policy with general (non-defective) credit returns allowed only in special cases (they are evaluated on a case by case basis). In order to keep our prices as low as possible, and keep our service level high, we trust our customers to know what they are ordering when they place an order, and to review their order carefully before finalizing it. All general returns that are accepted will be subject to a restocking fee or return processing fee, and we can only accept items that are Brand New and still in the original packaging.

Please include all of the details of your order and problem with the product in your return or defective replacement request. This will help expedite your request. Please specify if your order was damaged by the carrier when it was delivered as we will need to file an insurance claim with the carrier for the damaged goods.

Items returned that have been opened or lack a return authorization number will not qualify for any credit, and will be shipped back to you at your expense.

A Note About Damaged DVD Cases - If you receive a DVD with a damaged case but the DVD inside is uneffected, please specify this in your request so that we can replace just your DVD case. This included cases that are crushed, or have chipped teeth on the DVD holder. We now carry replacement DVD cases in stock, including alpha cases for multiple DVD's. In most cases our replacement DVD cases are superior to the ones the manufacturers use.

A Note Regarding DVD's With Cosmetic Blemishes - We understand that customers want their new Anime DVD's to arrive in perfect condition, and we work very hard to ensure that every product we ship out is in mint condition when it leaves our warehouse. Actually, we have a very rigorous inspection policy and we reject a great deal of the DVD's that some manufacturers ship us because of various obvious flaws and packing issues. Sometimes we get reports of disks that come loose from the spindles in transit (we call these 'shakers'). It seems no matter how well we package disks, this can still happen from time to time and is a result of the type of spindle holders some manufacturers use. Due to this, we can only replace DVD's that actually have problems playing, or have deep scratches and other obvious serious problems. We've implemented this policy because many of the major Anime studios (to save money) will no longer accept retailers returns for defective DVD's (despite our objections). Disks with minor scuffs or cosmetic blemishes from the manufacturing process will not be considered defective or eligible for replacement unless they actually show a problem during playback.  Returned DVD's will be tested to ensure they are actually defective, and non-defective disks will be returned to the customer. We appreciate your understanding in this matter, and want to assure you that we will continue to strive to ship you only the very best quality product.

A Note About Region Encoding - All of the Domestically released DVD's that we carry are guaranteed to be Region 1 compatible (note: this does not apply to our Region 2 Japanese Imports). Most of our BLURAY disks will be at least Region A encoded, with some Region A/B and a few may even be region free. We cannot be responsible for problems playing a DVD on any DVD player that is not Region 1 compatible, even if your player is 'Region 0' or 'Region Free'. 

A Note About DVD's With Limited Edition Pack-Ins - DVD's with limited edition pack-ins will be shipped on a first come / first served basis depending on the amount that we receive from the manufacturer. Pre-ordering a release early will increase your chances of getting a pack-in since these orders ship first, but we cannot guarantee customers that a new release will come with limited pack-ins (even if you have pre-ordered it), and we will not be able to accept returns for DVD's shipped that did not come with these items. We have direct relationships will all the major US anime studios, and we pre-order new release titles very early to try to ensure we get our full order of limited edition items when they are released. Recently, however, many studios have started to use fulfillment centers to actually ship their retailer orders (Geneon is the primary culprit here), and this has caused a problem with the distribution of DVD's with the limited edition pack-in items (like collectors cards, pencil boards, etc.). Since usually only 10,000 or 15,000 of these items are made available, and since they have the exact same SKU # as the DVD without the pack ins, these items are now often being shipped at random to retailers, and we no longer have any guarantee that all (or any) of our copies will have them included.

Based on some past (actual) requests :-) , the following reasons DO NOT qualify as grounds for a return:

  • "I didn't like that Anime"
  • "I didn't like the music in that Anime"
  • "I didn't like the characters in that Anime"
  • "I didn't like the plot in that Anime"
  • "I decided I don't want that Anime anymore"
  • "I didn't like the characters AND plot of that Anime"
  • "I ordered the wrong item" (Check your order carefully before placing it please!)
  • "I ordered the same item twice"
  • "I received this anime as a gift and don't want it"
  • "My tuition went up and I'm having financial problems"
  • "I received this anime as a gift from someone else before my delivery arrived"
  • "My order didn't come with a limited edition or bonus item"
  • "I bought this to give as a gift, but the recipient already has it"
  • "I bought this to give as a gift, but the recipient didn't want it"
  • "I bought this to give as a gift, but the recipient doesn't deserve it"
  • "I got impatient and bought this item locally before my order arrived (please return the copy you bought locally)"
  • "I found the item cheaper somewhere else"
  • "This Region 1 DVD disk will not play in my Region 2 DVD player",
  • "These NTSC videos won't play in my PAL system"
  • "My girlfriend ordered the Anime, but we broke up before it arrived"
  • "I want to return an Anime to protest the logging industry in the Pacific Northwest"
  • "I no longer enjoy Anime because my political party didn't win the election"
  • "My other schizophrenic personality made me order it"

Any Items returned to us without prior authorization (or parcels that are refused) will be shipped back to you at your expense, so please make sure to get a return authorization before sending anything back to us. Thank you very much!

_Damaged or Lost Shipments

Domestic Damaged - All domestic shipments are sent via USPS Priority Mail or UPS. If your shipment is damaged when you receive it, let us know via e-mail, and we will take care of it right away.

US Mail - If your package was insured (large orders only - look for the Blue Bar-coded label on the outside of the box), please immediately take the entire contents of your shipment, along with the packaging it came in, to your local post office and present it for an insurance claim. The Post Office will keep your items as proof of your claim. You will be asked to fill out a PS-1000 form, which will then be forwarded back to us. Once we receive the PS-1000, we will then replace your damaged items (if possible), or issue you a full refund including shipping. 

Minimum time limit for filing for shipments that are 'lost in the mail' with the USPS is 30 days, however, to date, we have never had this happen.

UPS / FedEx - If you receive a UPS or FedEx package with damaged contents, even if the box does not look damaged, please contact us via e-mail and we will setup an claim and replace or refund your items. Make sure to keep the entire contents of your shipment, along with the packaging it came in as UPS or FedEx will stop by to pickup and inspect these items.

International Damaged - International shipment can be insured upon request for a small additional charge. It will be the responsibility of the recipient to make whatever claims are available in their home country should they receive a damaged shipment. International shipments will be packaged very well, however, we cannot be responsible for lost or damaged shipments once packages leave the United States. Please keep this in mind when ordering. If this is a concern to you, we highly recommend that you allow us to ship your items via EMS or FedEx and request insurance. While more expensive, EMS & FedEx are the most secure methods of shipping, can be insured, and can be tracked.

_Adult Items

Adult items can only be purchased by customers 18 years of age or older using a major credit card, or who are willing to provide proof of ID (a copy of your photo ID, such as your drivers license) along with payment. This policy is not flexible, and prevents orders from minors.

International customers - who are concerned about customs problems resulting for the importation of adult material can request that the box covers and other suggestive material be removed prior to shipment. These can be discarded, or sent under separate cover via regular mail. A nominal fee of $1.00 per item will be charged for this service, as well an any additional postage fees that apply.  These services must be requested at the time of your order in the 'comments' section of the order form. We are not responsible nor will credit be issued for any items that are seized by customs.

_Customs, Duties, and Tariffs (International Shipments Only)

International shipments may be subject to additional customs fees and duties. We do not pre-bill customs fees, and because of the variety and number of regulations imposed by various governments, we cannot be responsible for orders that incur additional customs, tariffs, or duties once they reach the destination country. Any extra fees imposed by your home country will be collected at the time that your order is delivered. Please check your local customs regulations for specific information. 

Special Requests - We can, upon request, prepare your parcels in a way to help reduce the chances of your having to pay additional fees. For example, we can mark your parcels shipped via a postal delivery method as 'gift' or 'commercial samples', and in the case of larger orders, we can arrange to send the invoice under separate cover via regular mail (a small extra postage and processing charge will apply). These services must be requested at the time of your order in the 'comments' section of the order form. Please keep in mind that we still cannot be responsible extra fees even if we package your items this way.

Customs Seizures - Also, please be aware of any laws in your particular country pertaining to the content or subject matter of what you are ordering. We cannot be responsible for customs seizures as a result of materials being considered illegal in your country. Please be aware of what can and cannot be imported into your country prior to ordering! (As an example, we had a Ranma movie video shipment seized by customs in Singapore, because that particular anime does not comply with local censorship laws, due to the brief nudity in it.)
