From veteran anime director, character designer and fan-favorite Masami Obari (Battle Arena Toshinden, and Fatal Fury: The Motion Picture, Dangaizer 3)!

Neo Hong Kong, 2097: The world has changed. Advances in genetic engineering and cybernetics have created an environment full of artificially enhanced humans and intelligent super-computers that operate using biological software. But the same technology that has allowed man & machine to merge has made both susceptible to a new kind of threat - digital viruses capable of controlling their hosts.

Volume #1: (Eps #1-4)

The last line of defense against this insidious foe is an elite task force known as STAND. Equipped with state-of-the-art armored cybernetic suits known as "variable gears," only this special law-enforcement arm can deal with virus-infected war machines on their own terms. But when a prototype armored gear is infected with a new virus during its unveiling, STAND has its hands full. Not only must they contend with the rouge machine, but a mysterious stranger know as Serge appears on the scene with his sights firmly fixed on STAND's leader, Raven. Fascinated with the young man's potential, Raven arranges for Serge to be unwittingly fitted with one of STAND's variable gears. Not only is Serge's thirst for vengeance corrected through this gambit, but the young man's latent battle skills are awakened in time for him to soundly defeat the hostile prototype.

Volume #2: (Eps #5-8)

Ever vigilant, the forces of S.T.A.N.D. are confronted with some of the Incubatorís more subtle strategies and find themselves waging war across cyberspace. When an insidious form of the Virus begins to infect women by means of their cybernetic implants, the teamís star hacker Mirei is hot on the case. But when she herself becomes trapped within the Net Ė a helpless victim of the Virus Ė her teammate Erika must dive into cyberspace to act as a diversion for the aggressive invader while Serge attempts to locate and free Mirei. Could this all be a trap designed to lure Serge into direct contact with the Incubator? On another front, the Virus has invaded the brain implant of a mentally unstable, power-hungry human host known as "The Brain Lizard." As acquaintances from both Sergeís and Mireiís past become targets for this new menace, it becomes increasingly clear that the Virus not only knows many dark secrets about Sergeís past, but also seems to share a history with S.T.A.N.D.ís leader Raven! What information is Raven withholding from the others, and what mysteries have Erika and Serge unlocked during their encounters in cyberspace?

Volume #3: (Eps #9-12)

When the Virus invades S.T.A.N.D.'s central computer, Serge must overcome his own demons and activate his transcendence mode to counteract the threat. But with the activation of the same type of multi-dimensional oscillator that gave birth to Black Valentine, is Serge really stopping the Virus, or is it using him to further it's own ends? To make matters worse, the Zainell Corporation, troubled by this public demonstration of forbidden technology, begins dismantling S.T.A.N.D. With their forces divided, and Macus opposing them, the remaining members of the team must summon all their strength to launch one final desperate assault on the orbital source of the virus!
