Then at the beginning of high school, Sakuragi met Haruko. Volume #1 (Eps #1-5) Head over heals in love with Haruko, when she asked him, "Do you like basketball?" Hanamichi immediately replied, "Yes, I love it." Of course, he didn't have a clue what basketball was, but in order to gain her love, Hanamichi takes up the sport to impress her. Thus begins the legend... Volume #2 (Eps #6-10) Talented yet undisciplined, Hanamichi is frustrated when he's forced to repeat the most basic of drills during basketball practice. Through the repetition of practice, Hanamichi begins to hone his skills to become a standout ball handler and is soon noticed by basketball coach Anzai. Hanamichi officially becomes a member of the basketball team. However, the Judo coach also has his eye on Hanamichi and has his own plans for recruitment. The final choice will be Hanamichi's alone.... Volume #3 (Eps #11-15) Hanamichi secretly works on his shot making skills to improve his overall game. He soon learns that his team has already scheduled their first practice game against fierce rival Ryounan High School. When the game day finally comes, a heated rivalry between Uozumi, the captain of Ryounan, and Akagi, the captain of Shouhoku, arises and becomes a matter of honor. His team thinks that they might be outmatched by the players of Ryounan High School. Hanamichi adds to his team's problems when he is given a technical foul by messing with Ryounan's coach from the sidelines. Will Hanamichi and his team face defeat, or come back to win against a powerful adversary? |
